Vision Statement

My Vision Statement

A teacher has an important role in society.  As a teacher, I believe in the importance of creating life long learners and fostering good citizenship both in the community and worldwide. This includes teachers engaging with students, using their natural curiosity to build lessons, and helping build critical thinking skills.

Teachers who engage with students understand their personal and educational needs. When teachers are able to connect with students they can help them create goals. When students are able to understand and reach goals they will have more confidence in their learning.  Because each student will be different, including differentiated learning will also help foster student learning. Teachers who engage also create a safe emotional space in their classroom because students feel safe. As a teacher, I want to engage with students so they can succeed in their personal life and in their education.

Students who are personally invested in their learning will retain knowledge and be more excited about learning. When teachers are able to use students' curiosity to plan lesson, students are going to connect with what they learning. Using real world problems will engage students in the lesson and will teach them about being a positive citizen. As a teacher, I want to guide students by giving them options on what they are learning so they can be part of their own learning process.

Finally, I believe it is very important students are able to exercise their critical thinking skills in the classroom. Because they will grow up to be citizens in their communities and around the world, they will be making an impact. When they understand how to critically think about problems around them, they will be able to solve the problems that plague the world. I believe as a teacher it is not my job to give students the answers for everything. Instead, a teacher should help guide students to find an answer and create answers based on their previous knowledge. Using real world problems and engaging students will help me as a teacher give each student to tools for them to successfully know how to critically think.
